| Apollo Research Institute Integrates University Research Arm and Expands Academic, Think Tank Partnerships |
The University of Phoenix Research Institute will expand its research focus and change its name to reflect its new corporate scope. Beginning November 7, 2011, the research group will operate under the name Apollo Research Institute as part of Apollo Group, the parent company of seven leading educational service providers, including University of Phoenix.
Apollo Research Institute will extend the scholarly research agenda of its predecessor by conducting national and metropolitan-area studies that address issues of critical importance for the current and future workforce, including skills gaps, future career demands, and educational solutions to workforce deficits in the 21st century. As a nonpartisan research division of Apollo Group, the Institute will continue Apollo’s collaboration with Stanford University’s Media X program and the Institute for the Future as well as the industry-based nonprofit, The Manufacturing Institute. Apollo Research Institute will forge and strengthen additional affiliations with leading educational service providers such as EdLink.
“The enhancement of Apollo Research Institute reflects our commitment to helping solve the nation’s workforce crisis—not just through traditional academic research, but through innovative corporate partnerships that boost our capacity to provide expertise, data-driven analysis, and thought leadership to the education, business and government communities,” said Greg Cappelli, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Group and Chairman of its subsidiary, Apollo Global.
“Higher education alone cannot close the workforce skills gap,” added Dr. Tracey Wilen-Daugenti, Vice President and Managing Director of Apollo Research Institute. “Our expanded Institute will engage multi-sector expert panels and think tanks in comprehensive investigations that produce research reports, videos and webinars to help decision makers across all industries ensure today’s workforce remains employable tomorrow.”
Research published prior to November 2011 will continue to bear the University of Phoenix Research Institute name during a yearlong transition period. Studies published in November 2011 or thereafter will appear under the name Apollo Research Institute.
