| Expert Panel Examines Future Work Skills During Webinar |
Researchers and leaders from business and higher education will discuss emerging job skills for the next decade.
Global connectivity, smart machines, and new media are just some of the factors reshaping the skills that workers will need to be productive contributors in the future. To shed light on the technical and societal shifts that will require new job skills in the next 10 years, Apollo Research Institute and the Chronicle of Higher Education will host Future Work Skills, a webinar featuring an expert panel of researchers and leaders from business and higher education, on April 27. The virtual web conference is free of charge and open to the public. Attendees may attend in real time (2:00-3:00 p.m. Eastern) or by later downloading the recorded event. Registration is required to access the live event or the recording. Register at http://chronicle.com/webinars/universityofphoenix4.
Thought leaders from IBM, Manpower, Stanford University, Apollo Research Institute, and the Institute for the Future will comprise the webinar’s expert panel. Research findings using the Institute for the Future’s forecasting methodology will be presented on the drivers and disruptions that will reshape the landscape of work, the key work skills needed in the next 10 years, and the implications for business, higher education, and tomorrow’s workers.
“To prepare America’s workforce for the jobs of the future, individuals, educators, business leaders, and policymakers must anticipate emerging trends and work together to promote skill development across industry sectors and geographic regions,” said Dr. Tracey Wilen-Daugenti, Vice President and Managing Director of Apollo Research Institute. Webinar speakers will identify six drivers of societal change, such as increased longevity, superstructured organizations, and globalization, and explore 10 skills for future workforce success, such as social intelligence, cross-cultural competency, cognitive load management, and virtual collaboration.
