| Talent Management Magazine Publishes In-depth Discussion of Apollo Research Institute Findings on Employers' Attitudes Toward Vets |
Talent Management magazine published an article titled An Army of Leaders, which discusses an Apollo Research Institute study of employers’ perceptions of military employees. The article is authored by two Apollo Research Institute writers, James M. Fraleigh and Courtney L. Vien. The study’s findings confirm that employers look favorably on military service. For example, 93 percent of employers and managers who participated in the study have positive attitudes toward job candidates’ military service.
However, the study did find significant variation and nuances in employers' attitude toward vets. For example, the study found that, while employers value military service, they may value education more highly. Respondents said they would be more likely to hire candidates with a college degree and 10 years of military experience than those who had served in the military for 20 years but lacked a degree. The article concludes with a discussion of steps veterans can take to improve their chances of moving successfully into a civilian job.
