New Book, Society 3.0, Reviewed and Discussed on the Web

A new book by the Vice President and Managing Director of Apollo Research Institute, Dr. Tracey Wilen-Daugenti, titled Society 3.0: How Technology Is Reshaping Education, Work and Society, explores disruptive forces that are changing the world of work and explains the need for educators to understand these forces. Far-reaching changes to family structure are impacting both education and the workforce. Some examples:

  • A wider range of family members, not just older children, now attend college.
  • Older students now outnumber those entering school before starting careers.
  • Today’s workers are increasingly likely to be women, working outside the home or self-employed.

Dr. Wilen-Daugenti also discusses technology, a powerful force for change in the workplace and education. As described in Society 3.0, technology is remaking the campus experience via smartphone learning apps, social networking among professors and students, and immersive engagement in virtual worlds—and even games.
